Writers Series

Mary Gaitskill is most recently the author of Don't Cry. She is also the author of Veronica (nominated for the National Book Award), Because They Wanted To (nominated for a PEN/Faulkner Award), Bad Behavior, and the novel Two Girls, Fat and Thin. Gaitskill is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, and her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, Esquire, The Best American Short Stories, and The O. Henry Prize Stories. She lives in New York.

Christopher Beatty, Senior Concept Designer-Director at Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California, will discuss how Disney can improve the guest experience in one of their theme parks. Disney’s design goals and challenges will be addressed in relation to guest interaction. Presented by the UM Museum Studies Program as part of their series Reimagining Engagement.
