Collections Connections: Brandenburg Concertos

Graduate conducting and harpsichord student Brandon Straub leads an ensemble of faculty and students in a performance of J. S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. Presented in their entirety, this concert offers the unusual opportunity to experience Bach's exploration of the concerto grosso's formal and expressive possibilities. This concert shares its inspiration with the Museum's series of prints by William Hogarth, on view beginning January 18, in which the artist also creatively and expressively explores an established form.

The SMTD at UMMA concert series is copresented by the University of Michigan Museum of Art and the UM School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, with additional support from the Katherine Tuck Enrichment Fund.
