Programs and ToursVincent Chandler Quartet Detroit trombonist Vincent Chandler is a graduate of UM and the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz at USC. Currently, he is the leader of Urban Transport, one of the most exciting young groups to come out of Metro Detroit. Chandler began his professional career by performing with Chicago Pete and The Detroiters, James Chaney, and other blues artists, which led to gigs with the Detroit Allstars. He has also played with the Gerald Wilson Big Band, Lincoln Center Big Band, Jimmy Heath, John Faddis, Joe Henderson, Stefon Harris, and Clarke Terry. He will be accompanied by three UM jazz department students--Glenn Tucker, electric keyboard; Ben Rolston, upright bass; and Jesse Crammer, drums.This monthly series, curated by UM Associate Professor Adam Unsworth, presents outstanding local artists in an intimate setting. This series is made possible by the Doris Sloan Memorial Fund.
