Programs and ToursSMTD@UMMA: The Hero in BattleUMMA’s exhibition Benjamin West: General Wolfe and the Art of Empire is a close look at Benjamin West’s iconic depiction of the death of British commander General James Wolfe at the 1759 Battle of Quebec, one of Great Britain's most famous military victories, during what in this country is known as the French and Indian War. Directors Aaron Berofsky and Edward Parmentier lead the UM Early Music Ensemble in works by Biber and others that evoke the heroic. The SMTD@UMMA performance series is made possible in part by the Katherine Tuck Enrichment Fund. Generous support for the exhibition Benjamin West: General Wolfe and the Art of Empire is provided by the Joseph F. McCrindle Foundation, the University of Michigan Health System, the University of Michigan Office of the Provost and Office of the Vice President for Research, the Richard and Rosann Noel Endowment Fund, and THE MOSAIC FOUNDATION (of R. & P. Heydon).
